The 21st Annual Powder – Pedal – Paddle Relay Race at Fernie Alpine Resort Spring is in the air and skiers/riders, cyclists, paddlers and runners will be gathering at Fernie Alpine Resort to participate in the 21st Annual Powder-Pedal-Paddle Relay Race on Saturday, April 17th. The relay consists of teams of one to five members. These adventure enthusiasts compete for prizes in a variety of categories: Overall, Women, Mixed, Solo, Best Costume, Best Team Name, Oldest, Youngest, Slowest, Hardluck, Farthest Away and Best Family. The relay race begins at the top of the Lizard Bowl. The skier/rider races down to the Mountain Plaza area and meets the cyclist, who then proceeds into the city of Fernie where the river crew awaits. The paddlers make their way down the Elk River and meet the runner, who completes the last leg of the relay by running the Fernie Alpine Resort access road, from Highway Three to the finish line in the Mountain Plaza. “This event is a great compliment to your spring ski day and anyone at any level can participate or watch the festivities. Catch the high energy and excitement that this event offers!” says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. Awards will be given out at the afternoon BBQ, in the Mountain Plaza, followed by live entertainment in the Griz Bar, provided by Fernie’s favorite band, BCDC.
