At The Ski Stop we say “Friends don’t let friends ride junk!” When you are purchasing a ski there are a few simple things to keep in mind. At The Ski Stop we carry only Rossignol skis. We have grown up skiing and testing Rossignol for 28 years and know and love the line-up very well. We are familiar with the capabilities of each ski and how to match them to the right skier. That is one way to be sure of your ride.

To buy a pair of skis takes some interaction between you and the salesmen. To make it simple think T.S.C. (Terrain, Speed, Conditions) and from question and answer we can help you pick from the line up the right ski for you.

We’ll be asking you: Where do you like to ski and spend most of your time skiing (What type of run or terrain - moguls, flat and groomed, steep and narrow, wide open or gentle)? Do you prefer slower speeds or higher speeds? What type of turn and rhythm do you use most of the time - shorter turns close to the fall line, and quick between the turns, or longer more sweeping turns with more time between each turn? What type of terrain and condition do you want help in skiing? What level of skiing are you at and what level do you aspire to and want the skis to help you attain? Do you carve your turns, want to be able to carve through your turns, do you use a pivot and skid technique, a basic parallel turn or stemmed turn? Are you interested in the new skis and want to ski what all the fuss is about? These are just some things that should be covered as you look for new skis.

But wait, there is one other way to help and that is to demo the skis. At The Ski Stop we have a “special” ski demo/rental plan that allows you to try before you buy. We help you find the model or models that will suit your needs – then on the Ski VIP plan you can try them out. Try different lengths and different models to find out what ski personality suits your body, ski style and ability, plus your desires the best. Not only that but your demo/rental fee is refunded to you when you buy (up to five days’ fees). It is like renting skis for free (and a five-day demo gets a free dinner as well).

Skis all have differing shapes and differing side cuts, different tips, different flexes, some have plates, some don’t, some are very wide underfoot and some not so wide – all these things effect how the skis perform. Then we add your style and needs to the mix. We can help you find the right ski and the Ski VIP plan lets you try before you buy to help you feel the differences in the skis reaction to your and your style.

The Bandit Series from Rossignol sets the standard for freeriding skis. The different models and lengths need to be discussed. The B3 begs for back bowls but has a lot more than that in it with special FAT technology, while the B2 reinvents versatility in all mountain freeride skis with a nose for powder and crud. You may not be into freeriding all over the mountain but these skis still can help you out so ask to find out how and why – then try a pair out. The new Zenith Series oversize skis are starting their own revolution and what a ride they are. Several models for you to try from this new and unique style of ski – three skis in one – Mid-Fat for float, pronounced shape for easy start of turns, and a special tail for ease of turn shape and turn exit. Did you ever think that one ski could do it all? This line up can.

If you are coming to Banff, contact your friends at The Ski Stop to set you up in the best skis from Rossignol for you and your style. Check us and the Rossignol skis out - and get skiing on the skis that started it all!
