Stoneham: Forty Years of Great Memories For the coming season, Stoneham mountain resort, just a few minutes north of Québec City, will have many new features to enhance its lively resort. Expanded terrain park, major renovations to the base area, and a 40th anniversary are simply some of the countless highlights that visitors will be enjoying this season. One thing won’t change, however; Stoneham will still be famous for offering the best snow conditions in Eastern Canada. Recognized as the most challenging terrain park in Eastern Canada, Stoneham is up for a few more add-ons this season to thrill snowboarders and freeskiers alike. In addition to its exhilarating five-meter (17-foot) wall and FIS ranked Super Pipe, the snowpark will be expanded with several new rails and snow obstacles this year. Furthermore, for a second year, Stoneham will be hosting the FIS Snowboard World Cup from December 17 to the 21, 2003. The snowpark has produced so many great riders over recent years that locals have already given it a name. From now on, the snowpark will be called the 418 Area, a distinctive brand that will be used to show the magnitude of the snowpark and its geographical location on the snowboard and freeskiing scenes. “It’s a simple gesture that shows the great evolution of Stoneham as one of the best winter resorts in the East. By naming the park 418 Area, we want to recognize all the athletes who have contributed to make Stoneham become one of the best resorts for snowboarding and freeskiing,” indicated Yves Juneau, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for the resort. As a fundamental aspect of the on-mountain experience, grooming keeps improving. This winter, two new Bombardier BR 275 MP grooming machines will be added to the existing fleet to ensure that Stoneham keeps its reputation as having the best snow conditions in the East. The full fleet will keep on grooming twice daily to ensure that night skiing visitors also enjoy the best snow. Article courtesy of Stoneham Mountain Resort. < Current Issue | Top ^
