SkiCanada from $272 - Its deep. Its cheap. Its deep.

Whistler Blackcomb Opens run with 5,020 feet of Continuous Vertical

The long awaited west side of Whistler Mountain recently opened with Peak to Creek, a seven-kilometer (four-mile) groomed, intermediate run. The Peak to Creek zone also features three other named runs, 400 acres, and hundreds of lines to choose from.

“ Peak to Creek embodies the best of Whistler Mountain within one run,” says Bob Dufour, Vice President of Mountain Operations for Whistler Blackcomb. “With over 5,020 feet (1,544 meters) of vertical and four miles (seven kilometers) of variety, there are no other runs like Peak to Creek around.”

On Peak to Creek’s opening day, Whistler Blackcomb’s Mountain Host program fielded many questions about the new run. “By 10 am this morning, many guests had asked Mountain Hosts when free mountain tours of Peak to Creek would be taking place,” says Mountain Host Jim Sayers, a Squamish resident who has been hosting for the past seven years and has skied Whistler for “a long time.”

“ Because of the massive size of Whistler Blackcomb, having a local expert like a Mountain Host or ski instructor tour you around is like have a backstage, all-access pass to the mountain,” Sayers says.

With or without a mountain host, Peak to Creek is ready for play. After an exhilarating ride up the Peak Chair, the Peak to Creek experience begins. Guests make their way from alpine bowls on Upper Peak to Creek, to glades of Coastal rainforest at mid-mountain, and on to wide rolling trails through big timbers to the Creekside base area. The views alone are something to experience. From the summit of Whistler Mountain signature views 360 degrees around unfold, including Black Tusk, an arresting black, volcanic rock landmark south of Whistler.
